Bruce Springsteen - Point Blank

One of the saddest songs Bruce Springsteen has ever written, "Point Blank" off 1980's double album The River, is a like a short story set to music. The song deals with broken dreams, lost girlfriends, shattered lives... you get the drill. It's also very beautiful of course, a ballad built around an elegant piano motif and Springsteen's haunted vocal delivery. According to Wikipedia "Point Blank" was the first song he wrote after completing the Darkness On The Edge Of Town album and he played it live for the first time on July 7th, 1978.
