Ian Dury & The Blockheads - Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick

Ian Dury's fantastic 1978 single "Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick", a co-write with fellow Blockhead Chaz Jankel, is a true favourite. The song's word play with lyrics in English, German and French is great fun, as well as the narrative in itself that takes the listener on a trip "from Bombay to Santa Fe, o'er the hills and far away". Excellent, funky melody too, in every way a classic, and one of Dury's best songs.
