Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell to record duets album

Now this is what I call fantastic news! Emmylou Harris and her original Hot Band guitarist, singer/songwriter Rodney Crowell, are recording a duets album together. There are no details about track listing or release date yet, but Harris talks about the project with Billboard, saying it will probably be an album of mainly covers. That may be very good news in itself as Harris' guest appearance on Crowell's take on Bob Dylan's "Shelter From The Storm" on his 2005 album The Outsider was incredible. Harris further says the duo are considering some songs Crowell has written for others but haven't recorded himself.

In other Emmylou-related news this year marks the 25th anniversary of the original Trio album that she recorded with Linda Ronstadt and Dolly Parton in 1987. It will be re-released in a deluxe set along with the follow-up album Trio 2 (1999) and outtakes from the sessions that Harris says "might be a real nice surprise for people".
