Darlene Love - "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)"

50 years ago eccentric and groundbreaking producer Phil Spector completely transformed Christmas pop music with the release of the holiday album A Christmas Gift For You From Phil Spector. With his acts Darlene Love, Bob B. Soxx & The Blue Jeans, The Crystals and The Ronettes he recorded versions of Christmas songs such as "Winter Wonderland", "Frosty The Snowman" and "Sleigh Ride" in grand, over the top arrangements, and the result was the loudest, biggest Christmas record ever. Darlene Love's "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" is the one original on it, written by Spector with songwriting partners Ellie Greenwich and Jeff Barry, and it fits beautifully into the mix. It also has to be mentioned that U2 has done a very good version of the song for the first release in the A Very Special Christmas series in 1987, but the original still shines brightest.
