The Lotus Eaters - The First Picture Of You

"The first picture of you is the first picture of summer", sang Peter Coyle of Liverpool band The Lotus Eaters on the band's 1983 debut single. It's one of my all time favourite summer songs, an intoxicating pop song, with jangling guitars and an overall pastoral vibe. What happened to The Lotus Eaters then? Not much. This was a minor hit, they released a fair debut album, split up, and that's mostly it. Coyle and his original partner-in-crime Jem Kelly have been doing some work as The Lotus Eaters in later years, but it hasn't amounted to much. They're best remembered for "The First Picture Of You", and what a song it is!
