Here's Barbara Randolph, one of the lesser known Motown acts with a song so cheerful it's crazy. "I Got A Feeling" (1967) has got all the landmarks of a good Motown single; a joyful melody, horns a-plenty, call and response vocals... to sum it up, it just exudes happiness. Barbara Randolph only released two singles for the Detroit label that was home to acts such as Marvin Gaye, The Four Tops, Smokey Robinson & The Miracles, Mary Wells and The Supremes. She was reportedly considered as a replacement for Florence Ballard in The Supremes, but that didn't happen. She remains pretty obscure, but "I Got A Feeling" gained popularity with England's Northern Soul dance scene and is therefore well-known in certain circles.
