The Police' final album Synchronicty (1983) was their most successful, mostly due to the smash hit "Every Breath You Take". However, it featured a few other good songs, especially this one. "Wrapped Around Your Finger" was the follow-up single, not as immediately catchy, but a fantastic song all the same. The song's greatest moment comes at 3:34 when the tempo picks up, and Stewart Copeland's drumming gets just that little bit more pronounced and Andy Summers does a few extra tricks on his guitar. It's an atmospheric masterpiece and very typical of The Police as it's an exercise in restraint. These guys are almost unbearably good musicians, something I seem to appreciate more the older I get.
