Madness - Embarrassment

Madness was an incredible singles band, releasing wonderful hit after wonderful hit between 1979 and 1985. One of the best is "Embarrassment" from second album Absolutely (1980). It's a dead serious song dealing with the reaction songwriter and saxophonist Lee Thomson's teenage sister met from her family when she came home pregnant with a black man's child. Although the lyrics are dark, the song in itself sounds joyful with an amazing melody and some very nice horns, luring you in. It's a very nice contrast, that underscores the contents masterfully.
