The American singer/songwriter Toni Childs released three stunning albums in the years 1988-1994. "Womb" is the opening track from the last of these called The Woman's Boat, and the muted drum sound you hear is supposed to emulate the sound of the foetus inside the womb. The track closes with the child in question being born, and the album follows the child from infant through womanhood and life. It's a lot better sounding than I am able to convey here, all in all an excellent album, that sounds like a cross between Peter Gabriel (who appears on it) and Sarah McLachlan. Childs retired from the music business in 1997 when she was diagnosed with Graves' disease, but is slowly working her way back, and released her fourth album Keep The Faith in 2008.
