Let's head back to 1966 and this fabulous "protopunk" track by American psychedelic outfit Love. "7 And 7 Is" is their most famous song, and was featured on their second album Da Capo, released in early 1967. The song was written by frontman Arthur Lee who also had to play the drums as the band's drummer Alban "Snoopy" Pfisterer was unable to nail the frantic rhythm patterns. The song climaxes in what appears to be an atomic explosion before fading out with a mellow blues segment. A fascinating piece of music.
