Birthday boy Barry Manilow (68 today) is not the hippest of artists, but he sure can sing a song pretty perfectly anyway. His take on The Beach Boys' Bruce Johnston's "I Write The Songs" is fantastic, a tribute to the songwriters that have helped him become famous in the first place. The song was first recorded by The Captain & Tennille in 1975, Manilow recorded it the same year, and it reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in January 1976. I don't know when this live clip was recorded, but he sings it wonderfully. Happy birthday, Barry!
