Steve Goodman won a posthumous Grammy Award for Best Country Song in 1984 when Willie Nelson recorded his version of his 1971 classic from his self-titled debut album. Arlo Guthrie also had a hit with the song in 1972. Willie's version is a bit slicker than Goodman's and Guthrie's versions, but it's very good, describing a train journey from Chicago to New Orleans on the old Illinois Central Railroad. Timeless!
