Legendary New Orleans arranger Wardell Quezergue, nicknamed the "Creole Beethoven", died yesterday, 81 years old, after a lengthy illness. Among Quezergue's many notable records are the Professor Longhair classic "Big Chief" as heard here, and he's been working with Dr. John, Fats Domino Jean Knight and King Floyd to name but a few and also "non-New Orleans" artists such as Paul Simon, Willie Nelson and B.B. King. R.I.P.
