Reckoning (1984) is still my favourite R.E.M. album (Well, it's actually a tie with follow-up album Fables Of The Reconstruction.), and the single "(Don't Go Back To) Rockville" is definetily among my all-time favourite R.E.M. songs. The jingly-jangly Byrds-like guitar, sing-a-long country chorus and all-round great melody serves as a shining example to all and sundry on how to write a perfect pop song. It's impossible not to like this, if you ask me.
Watch and listen
