The opening track from U2s third album, War (1983), signaled that the band was serious after the disappointing October album. The fantastic "New Year's Day" had been released as a single two months earlier than the album release and made it clear that the band was back, and when War finally came out, hearing "Sunday Bloody Sunday" convinced me that the Dublin band was better than ever. The version you'll find here is from the live set Under A Blood Red Sky. "Sunday...", about an especially gross episode where British soldiers shot and killed unarmed civilians in the Norhern Irish "troubles", became the third single from War, but they never shot a promotional video. It's still one of their most famous songs.
