Maybe the best song ever written about the end of loneliness, "The Day Before You Came" was composed by Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson and first recorded for an ABBA compilation in 1982. The original is fantastic, but British synth pop duo Blancmange made an even better version two years later. For some reason Blancmange replaced Marilyn French with Barbara Cartland in the lyric, but apart from that it's the same incredibly well-written story about what the singer was doing in his/her lonely life "the day before you came".
