Irish singer/songwriter David Kitt released a wonderful album of covers in 2004 called The Black And Red Notebook, and the stand-out track is this version of Thin Lizzy's 1977 song "Dancing In The Moonlight (It's Caught Me In Its Spotlight)". Kitt has slowed the song down considerably and does an acoustic interpretation where Phil Lynott's wonderful and tender lyric about puppy love gets center stage. As much as it's a tribute to a great band it's even more a tribute to an underrated lyricist. Although Lynott sang about fighting, drinking and brawling, he was a great poet. He was, after all, Irish.
