"Hit The Road Jack" is simply a fantastic song. It was written in 1960 by Percy Mayfield who first recorded it as an a capella demo, but it was Ray Charles who turned it into a hit when he recorded it the following year. It's a perfect song in every way, and you can safely say Charles made it his own.
