I played this excessively when it was released in 1992. Norwegian band Bel Canto's third album, Shimmering, Warm And Bright, was one where they took a giant leap forward, building upon their chilly, electronic sound and creating a far warmer and richer one, but not without losing themselves along the way. In effect reduced to a duo after founding member Geir Jenssen had left, singer Anneli Drecker and programmer and keyboard wizard Nils Johansen took the band further than ever before, both sonically and commercially, with the invaluable help of percussionist Andreas Eriksen who became a very important part of the Bel Canto sound at this stage. The title track was the lead single off an album without a bad note on it. "Shimmering, Warm And Bright" (both the song and the album) will always sound great.
