The Specials - Ghost Town

The Specials' 1981 single "Ghost Town", about the decay, violence and hopelessness in the inner cities of Great Britain, is one of the eeriest compositions I know, a perfect picture of what life was like at the time. It was written by Jerry Dammers and remains his biggest moment alongside the Special A.K.A. single "Free Nelson Mandela" released in 1984. "Ghost Town" is simply the sound of a nation in ruin, a sort of pre-apocalyptic prophecy.
