British pub rock band The Motors is mostly remembered for one song, but boy is that good! "Airport", a big hit in 1978, is a masterclass in pop elegance, a perfectly written and arranged song that is immediate, catchy and actually quite intricate. It's not at all the easiest of compositions, but bassist Andy McMasters managed to come up with a pop song to equal Nick Lowe, Difford & Tilbrook, even Brian Wilson or Lennon & McCartney. The Motors had a few other hits as well, but none of them as good as "Airport", or even close.
