Kylie Minogue has, mysteriously, always enjoyed a certain hipness status in the British music press and amongst a certain type of clubbers. Although I've struggled to understand exactly why, a few pieces did fall in place when Nick Cave invited her along for the doom-ridden "Where The Wild Roses Grow" in 1996, the first single to be released from his Murder Ballads album. Kylie's voice perfectly blends with Cave's, and The Bad Seeds' eerie playing does a wonder or two for the end result as well. Truly perfect, and a justified hit single.
