After touring and recording for years, in 1987 and 1988 Midnight Oil became world famous for their hit "Beds Are Burning", a political song about giving the Australian lands back to its native inhabitants. It's a seriously catchy song, with a pulsating bassline, sing-a-long chorus, tightly wound guitar and great horns. How could it not be a hit? However, the land was not given back to the Pintupi people of whom Peter Garrett and the rest of Midnight Oil were singing, but the video is very nice all the same.
