Simply a great break-up song from the not very famous New Jersey singer/songwriter Richard Shindell. This song is the opening track from his 1992 debut album Sparrows Point, the first of many fine songs and albums from a man you'll like if you enjoy the music of people like John Gorka, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Lucy Kaplansky, Dar Williams, Steve Forbert and Nanci Griffith.
The lyrics are great. I especially like this couplet:
"I hope that what’s-his-name treats you well
I still maintain that he’s a bum"
A lot of guys have been there!
Watch and listen
