The Gunman And Other Stories was not a big success story for Prefab Sprout. It was their lowest charting album to date upon its 2001 release, but it's still a fine album. It's partly made up of songs Paddy McAloon wrote for others, namely for Jimmy Nail and Cher. "Cowboy Dreams" was recorded by Nail for his 1994 album Crocodile Shoes, and it's a wonderful pop song wherein the narrator sees himself as the hero in a cowboy movie. The stuff of legends, you know.
