Tracey Thorn - Sister Winter

The prize for this year's best new Christmas album goes to Tracey Thorn for her wonderful Tinsel And Lights. It's a fabulous collection of wintry and/or christmassy songs, written or made famous by, amongst others, Joni Mitchell, Jack White, Dolly Parton, Ron Sexsmith, Green Gartside and Sufjan Stevens, whose beautiful "Sister Winter" closes the album. Although the original is great, I think Tracey's version is even better. She's also written two new songs for the album, called "Joy" and "Tinsel And Lights".
