Johnny Hates Jazz - Shattered Dreams

British trio Johnny Hates Jazz may be a parenthesis in pop history, but their hit single "Shattered Dreams" nevertheless shines, even now, 25 years on from its 1987 release. Written by lead singer Clark Datchler, the song was a worldwide hit, and it's easy to see why. It's classic pop music with some nice hooks, an intoxicating melody, great harmonies and a synth pop arrangement that simply works. I love this song, even though it's light as a feather.
