Tom Waits - Georgia Lee

Tom Waits' 1999 album Mule Variations is a masterpiece, and among its many fantastic songs are "Georgia Lee", an incredibly sad lullaby-type ballad where Waits and co-writer/wife Kathleen Brennan questions God when a the titular child is found dead: "Why wasn't God there for Georgia Lee?" It's a valid question, I guess too many people have had to ask when something evil or bad has befallen their loved ones. Unfortunately it's a question that will always be valid, we are reminded of it almost every day when children are abducted and violated by evil people. It makes me sad.
