Sounding like a one-woman Supremes, Australian soul singer Lynne Randell sang her hit "Stranger In Your Arms" as if the next day was her last. It's a jubilant, joyful performance that celebrates love and life, released as the B-side to her 1967 single "Ciao Baby", but was picked up by British DJ's and swapped to A-side status. It has since become a Northern Soul classic, and listening to it now, 45 years after its release, I don't find that the least bit strange. It's pure joy distilled into two and a half minutes of pop music.
