Thin Lizzy frontman Phil Lynott was a brilliant songwriter and underrated poet. His lyrics of everyday life has more depth than many people think, often disguised as they were as hard-edged rock songs. When fellow Irishman David Kitt recorded his acoustic version of the wonderful "Dancing In The Moonlight" for his 2004 covers album The Black And Red Notebook, it took on a brand new life, considerably cutting it down in size and exposing the song for what it really is, a beautiful tale of uncertain adolescent love in a Dublin neighbourhood.
