Linda Ronstadt had recorded a great version of Karla Bonoff's "Someone To Lay Down Beside Me" for her 1976 album Hasten Down The Wind, and the following year Bonoff recorded an even better one for her own self-titled debut album. This is one of the great West Coast ballads of the time, a song to equal recordings by Ronstadt, Warren Zevon, Eagles, Jackson Browne, Carly Simon, Carole King and so forth.
