The Creedence Clearwater Revival version of the old folk song "Midnight Special" may be the best known, but this 1962 version by legendary performer Harry Belafonte featuring a young Bob Dylan on harmonica - his first official recording - is just as good or better. Belafonte's delivery is perfect and the arrangement equally good. The song most probably originated with prisoners in the American south in the early 20th century.
