Say what you will about Elvis Presley's more famous cover version, but it's Carl Perkins' original 1955 recording of his own "Blue Suede Shoes" that really hits home. It's one of rockabilly's greatest and coolest moments ever, a song so influential that you could almost forget about the entire rest of the Sun Records catalogue, classic as it of course is. Perkins is one of the true pioneers of rock'n'roll.
