Tommy Keene is an American power pop singer/songwriter who will most certainly remain obscure beyond his death, but with songs like "Places That Are Gone" he's written himself into the hearts of anyone that loves bands like Big Star or Gin Blossoms. Initially the song appeared as the title track of a 1984 EP, then re-appeared as part of the awesome 1986 album Songs From The Film, produced by legendary Beatles engineer Geoff Emerick. T-Bone Burnett and Don Dixon also produced tracks on the album, a classic known by too few.
