The Clash - The Call Up

No band in the history of rock'n'roll has looked cooler than The Clash. Joe Strummer, Mick Jones, Paul Simonon and Topper Headon all knew exactly how to dress in order to look fabulous, and in the case of the video shoot for 1980 single "The Call Up" they dressed up in gear they borrowed from singer and military effects collector Chris Forlowe whose warehouse they are filmed in. Topper Headon in full pilot gear behind the drums is a sight to behold, but so are the rest of the guys. And the music? Oh my God! "The Call Up" was the first single to be released from the strange and wonderful triple LP Sandinista and is for some reason a bit forgotten, but what a song it is. Funky, cool and Clash to the core. Wonderful!

Watch and listen
